IAI(S) Objectives

IAI Singapore Chapter was established in 1997. Its objectives are:

1. To   develop   an  industry-wide  framework  for  sharing  of  digital construction  information  throughout  the  whole  life cycle of a building project, through the use of guidelines on interoperability.

2. To  provide  a  forum  for  members  to  work together on technical and promotional   programs   to   advance   the   International   Alliance  for Interoperability (IAI) standards for information sharing.

3. To  provide  a  channel for members to keep abreast with and contribute towards International practices spearheaded by IAI chapters worldwide.

4. To  develop  and  administer  a certification process to effectuate the goals in above.

5. In  furtherance  of  the  above  objects,  the  Society may promote the aforesaid  purposes  by any appropriate means which are not contrary to law or inconsistent with the by-laws as stipulated by the IAI.

The purpose of setting up a IAI(S) is to collaborate with IAI Chapters worldwide to define, publish and promote common standards for sharing information through the construction project life cycle and across disciplines and technical applications.  IAI(S) will help the domain expertise to localize and adapt IFC standards for incremental application on real projects applicable in our local industry.

Operation: IAI(S) works closely with the Construction Industry IT Standards Technical Committee to define and endorse IT standards for Singapore. The Society works closely with IT vendors, institutions of higher learning and government agencies to implement strategic IT systems developed based on the IT standards adopted.  IT activities carried out under IAI(S) were organised into six work groups, Design Work Group , Procure Work Group, Measure Work Group , Build Work Group, Facilities Work Group and IFC Implementers Work Group.
